Nestling in the valley of the ancient River Darent with some of Kent’s finest countryside, Westerham, as the Gateway to the Garden of England,  is a charming Market Town attractive to residents, business and visitors. Its roots can be traced back to the Vikings and the Romans.

With easy access from the M25, Gatwick and London, it abounds with cafes, pubs, restaurants and independent shops. It has its own brewery, drawing water from our Greensand aquifer and its own winery using grapes grown on our North Downs. Its most famous residents are, amongst others, Sir Winston Churchill and General James Wolfe and their homes are open to the public. Welcome to all who wish to share our ‘Westerham experience’!

Parking FREE PARKING in Westerham! First 3 hours free in the Darent Carpark, and all day town-wide on Sundays. Charges frozen for 2017 and the extra spaces are now available. More Westerham parking information (varying charges and times)

housebuildingCall for Housebuilding sites: SDC asked local landowners to volunteer land and a total of 252 sites were put forward. The majority of these sites are in the Green Belt as most of the 7% of the District not in the Green Belt has already been built on. See Sevenoaks Chronicle article detailing responses from Westerham landowners. In the coming months the SD Council’s planners will carry out a detailed investigation of each site and will recommend a shorter list of sites that have the potential to be developed.

Consultation funding for Hosey and Farley Commons. Over the 18 months to Autumn 2017, extensive consultations by SDC, with Heritage Lottery Funding, will be carried out with local people, in particular schools, to produce plans to increase public access and improve areas for wildlife.
