Giles Ramsay, Theatrical Director and Producer & Course Leader in Theatre at the V & A , presents his fascinating slant on the “Restoration and After” – how the theatre of the day reflected this most saucy of eras. This lecture highlights Aphra Behn, born in Canterbury, who was recently featured in BBC1 South East News!

Following a successful career as one of Charles II’s spies in Europe and South America, Aphra Behn returned to England and shattered the glass ceiling of London’s Restoration Theatre by becoming one of the most successful playwrights of the age.
