We are sad to announce that Westerham’s Town Crier, John Scholey, died at the beginning of December. John and his wife Liz first came to Westerham in 2014. He became popular figure on the Green with his historic uniform and his bell and commanding voice. They soon reintroduced annual Maypole Dancing with the children from Churchill School. He had been ill for some time and we last saw him this summer at our VE80 celebrations when he read a proclamation from the King’s Pageantmaster.
